Cellular Respiration
Cellular respiration is how cells turn the chemical energy in glucose into ATP. It happens in three stages — glycolysis, the Krebs cycle, and the electron transport chain — and releases carbon dioxide and water as by-products.
1. Overview of cellular respiration
- Overall equation: C6H12O6 + 6 O2 → 6 CO2 + 6 H2O + energy (ATP + heat).p. 1
- Aerobic respiration needs oxygen and yields far more ATP than fermentation.p. 1
2. Glycolysis
- Glucose is split into two pyruvate molecules in the cytoplasm, producing a net gain of 2 ATP and 2 NADH.p. 2
- Glycolysis does not require oxygen.p. 2
3. Krebs (citric acid) cycle
- Takes place in the mitochondrial matrix; each acetyl-CoA produces 3 NADH, 1 FADH2, 1 ATP and 2 CO2.p. 3
4. Electron transport chain
- Located in the inner mitochondrial membrane; NADH and FADH2 donate electrons that pump H+ ions and drive ATP synthase.p. 4
- Oxygen is the final electron acceptor and forms water.p. 4

AI study guide maker FAQ
What is an AI study guide maker?
+
An AI study guide maker reads your class material — notes, PDFs, or slides — and organizes it into a study guide: an outline of the main topics, key concepts explained simply, a glossary, practice questions, and flashcards. Study Guide Maker also tags each point with the page it came from.
Is it really free? Do I need to sign up?
+
Yes. You can generate 2 study guides a day without an account. A free account adds 10 guides a month and a saved library. Paid plans unlock more guides, bigger files, and Deep mode.
What files can I make a study guide from?
+
PDFs (with selectable text), PowerPoint (PPTX), Word (DOCX), plain text files, and pasted notes. Scanned PDFs and photos of handwritten notes are not supported yet.
Can I make a study guide from a PDF or PowerPoint?
+
Yes — that's the most common use. Upload the file and each part of your guide will cite the page or slide number it came from.
How is a study guide different from a summary?
+
A summary shortens the text. A study guide is built for testing yourself: it organizes topics, defines key terms, and adds practice questions and flashcards so you can check what you actually remember.
Can I print it or download it as a PDF or Word file?
+
Yes. Export a print-ready PDF or an editable Word document. Flashcards can be exported as CSV for Anki or Quizlet.
How accurate is it? Does it cite sources?
+
Study Guide Maker builds the guide only from the material you provide and links each point to its page or slide so you can verify it. AI can still make mistakes, so check anything that looks off against your source — the page tags make that quick.
Can teachers use it to make study guides for students?
+
Yes. Teachers can turn slides or readings into a review guide with practice questions and an answer section. A dedicated fill-in-the-blank teacher mode is coming soon.
Is my uploaded content private?
+
Your files are read in your browser; only the extracted text is sent to our servers to generate the guide. We don't store your original files, and we don't sell your data. Guides you save stay in your account until you delete them.
Is using an AI study guide maker cheating?
+
Making a study guide from your own class materials is studying, not cheating — you still have to learn and recall the material. Always follow your school's and teacher's rules on AI use, and never submit AI-generated work as your own where it isn't allowed.
